After the holiday weekend’s takeover by robots and explosions (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), this weekend’s fare is, well, a bit more subdued. But nothing a rap legend and some ultra-cute animals can’t fix.
Look out for Kevin James comedy vehicle, Zoo Keeper, in wide release—complete with the talking animals and physical humor you’d expect from the comedian who brought you Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Also opening in wide release: Horrible Bosses, a recession-era comedy sure to attract a decent flock of jaded office workers.
If you’re looking to get your noggin working a little harder, opening in limited release is Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, on innovative rap group Tribe Called Quest (you may have heard their semi-hit “Scenario.”). Also dropping is John Carpenter’s The Ward (yes, from the guy who did the original Halloween); and Project Nim, the story of a chimpanzee raised like a human child.
Take a look at the latest Adweek mashup of some of the choicest opening-movie trailers above.
