Zappos wants you to know it sells more than shoes. So, in new ads from Mullen, the online retailer shows women wearing … only shoes? Yes, the creative approach here—showing naked women to illustrate how un-naked you can make them—is a bit gratuitous. But I suppose we are writing about it, so it must have worked on some level. Somewhat humorously, The New York Times's story about the Zappos ads quotes American Apparel's director of online marketing, who (not surprisingly) thinks it might not be a great move for Zappos. "Are they doing it because they want to get attention from blogs and Web sites that will write about it?" he asks. "Or are they doing it because it's the ad campaign that speaks most truly to who they are and what they want to sell?" More images after the jump.
