Geoffrey Rush Plays a Polish Peasant in Melbourne Film Fest Spot
27.06.2011
This spot for the Melbourne International Film Festival, from Clemenger BBDO, takes a humorous stab at Polish cinema, as two potato peelers lament that their film is too boring to make it into the festival. While that may very well be true, it would probably have an awesome poster. How they got Geoffrey Rush involved is anyone's guess. They probably did threaten to kill him. (Actually, the Australian actor is a patron of the festival, and offers this spiffy quote on the website: "People still bang on pathetically about 'world class' events, best in Southern Hemisphere, etc., but the word is out…Melbourne International Film Festival is envied. MIFF is smart. MIFF is it.") Pro-tip: "We're screwed" is a gentle translation of what the guy says at the end.
