Not sure how the effect it had on their conversions, but capturing the email address first certainly allows for better followup. Also, asking for the sale after an interactive tutorial means the person already has some experience with the product so it might remove the fear of "what if I pay for this and I don't like it?" A study by Cisco found that 8 out of 10 Americans take to the internet before making a purchase decision. The study also found that 71% of shoppers want access to digital content in physical stores. Another interesting finding was that 60 percent of Digital shoppers are now expecting more value in their shopping experience. Of these shoppers, 53 percent expect greater price visibility, 37 percent want easier ways to find products, and 39 percent desire faster/easier way to purchase products.
